2023 Terenzuola, Cinque Terre DOC Bianco
Crafted from ancient vineyards perched high above the Ligurian Sea, the 2023 Cinque Terre DOC Bianco by Terenzuola is a rare and beautiful expression of coastal winemaking. Grown on steep, terraced slopes in the breathtaking towns of Riomaggiore, Manarola, and Vernazza, this wine captures the soul of Cinque Terre with every sip.
The blend brings together native grape varieties—Bosco, Vermentino, Albarola, and Ruzzese—each contributing their own character. Bosco offers structure and gentle tannins, Vermentino layers in citrus and wild herbs, while Albarola and Ruzzese add bright acidity and mineral lift. The result? A wine that is naturally balanced, full of texture, and utterly refreshing.
Farming is done by hand across just 1.5 hectares, with vines ranging from 80 years old to the newly planted bush-trained alberelli. Yields are low—just 5 tonnes per hectare—ensuring intensity and concentration in every bottle. After a gentle skin maceration, fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by 6 months of ageing on the lees, adding richness and complexity.
What makes this wine truly special is the “Costa da Posa” vineyard, a dramatic natural amphitheatre carved out before Roman times, its dry-stone walls standing for over 1,000 years. From this incredible site comes a wine with salinity, minerality, and a whisper of the sea breeze.
Expect aromas of lemon zest, Mediterranean herbs, and white peach, with a palate that is textured, precise, and long-lasting. It’s a wine that pairs beautifully with seafood, pasta al limone, or simply enjoyed chilled on a sunny afternoon.
The 2023 vintage is a shining example of why Cinque Terre whites are so sought after. With limited production and a true sense of place, this is a bottle to savour—and to share.
2023 `TYDY’ Sauvignon Blanc IGP Val de Loire, TYDY, France
Thierry Delaunay TYDY 2023 is pale yellow in colour with youthful hints with a very expressive nose, this wine marries notes of grapefruit, pear and fresh lime with a subtle touch of tropical fruit. These bright fruit aromas are mirrored on the palate which is round and framed by a delicate touch of sweetness.
The 2023 vintage began with a cool and relatively rainy winter which replenished soil water reserves after the hot and dry 2022 vintage. The vineyards largely escaped the threat of spring frosts and flowering and fruit set took place under excellent dry and sunny conditions. It was very dry during July and August and some welcome showers arrived in September and gave the vines a necessary boost to complete the final stages of ripening. The harvest began in mid-September and the quality of the fruit was excellent.

The 2023 vintage saw extremely varied conditions, with a mild and dry winter followed by a cold and rainy spring. Continuous rainfall during the delicate budding and flowering phases made vineyard management extremely complicated. However, the abundance of water allowed the vines to grow luxuriously and production was abundant.
2023 Saint-Véran, Domaine Perraud, Burgundy, France
Bright lemon gold in colour, this wine displays aromas of peach and apricot. The palate is smooth and rounded with flavours of stone fruit and honey-like texture. This Saint-Véran is a full-bodied, fruity and fresh wine with crisp acidity and a long finish.
The 2023 vintage is characterised by generosity and abundance. Winter was milder than usual which meant budburst was later than average. This delay meant spring frosts were avoided. Conditions for flowering were largely favourable. A lack of water was appeased by heavy rainfall in June. Although vigilance was necessary in the vineyards with high humidity and potential storms, the Mâconnais largely avoided hailstorms in July. August and September were warm and sunny, which provided optimal harvest conditions.

2021 was a challenging vintage for winegrowers and producers in Burgundy. There were historically low yields due to catastrophic spring frost and hail, compounded by a cold, wet growing season. It is a return to a more classic vintage marked by bright acidity and freshness thanks to the cooler temperatures and resulting slower ripening, which allowed for full flavour development.

The 2022 vintage was characterized by a winter without significant rainfall, both snowy and rainy, and mild temperatures that led to an early but always dry spring. Prolonged below-average temperatures over the spring caused slow and stunted bud burst, followed by high temperatures in June which necessitated emergency irrigation in some vineyards where both the scarcity of substrate and the drainage capacity of the soil have made irrigation vital. Due to the difficult conditions, the bunches were smaller, both in size and yield, however the 2022 vintage shows great balance and a pleasant minerality.

2024 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Greywacke, New Zealand
£20.00 inc. VATDeliciously aromatic with scents of honeydew melon and orange blossom, delicately infused with herb botanicals. A bright expression of Sauvignon Blanc, with juicy lemon and steely cassis flavours and a generously textured palate garnished with a flourish of pastis and wildflowers. It is a wine with impressive structure and depth.
A relatively dry winter was followed by unsettled spring conditions, including isolated frosts. Minimal damage was sustained, but the intermittent cold nights continued well into spring, disrupting flowering and causing low berry numbers and millerandage (uneven berry size) in some varieties. As summer progressed, El Niño brought its signature warm, dry conditions. Extremely low rainfall was recorded throughout the summer, to the point of a drought being declared in mid-March. Bunch numbers were low across the region from the outset and the hot, dry summer condensed berry size, so reduced yields were inevitable. Fortunately the loose bunches reduced disease risk and resulted in immaculately clean, ripe fruit. Sauvignon Blanc ripeness levels were excellent across all sites. Cooler nights in February stretched out the ripening and led to wonderfully crisp acidity. 2024 saw pristine fruit with generous depth of flavour.

Chances are there wasn't collaboration, communication, and checkpoints, there wasn't a process agreed upon or specified with the granularity required. It's content strategy gone awry right from the start. Forswearing the use of Lorem Ipsum wouldn't have helped, won't help now. It's like saying you're a bad designer, use less bold text, don't use italics in every other paragraph. True enough, but that's not all that it takes to get things back on track.
The villagers are out there with a vengeance to get that Frankenstein
You made all the required mock ups for commissioned layout, got all the approvals, built a tested code base or had them built, you decided on a content management system, got a license for it or adapted:
- The toppings you may chose for that TV dinner pizza slice when you forgot to shop for foods, the paint you may slap on your face to impress the new boss is your business.
- But what about your daily bread? Design comps, layouts, wireframes—will your clients accept that you go about things the facile way?
- Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever.
- Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.
- Websites in professional use templating systems.
- Commercial publishing platforms and content management systems ensure that you can show different text, different data using the same template.
- When it's about controlling hundreds of articles, product pages for web shops, or user profiles in social networks, all of them potentially with different sizes, formats, rules for differing elements things can break, designs agreed upon can have unintended consequences and look much different than expected.
This is quite a problem to solve, but just doing without greeking text won't fix it. Using test items of real content and data in designs will help, but there's no guarantee that every oddity will be found and corrected. Do you want to be sure? Then a prototype or beta site with real content published from the real CMS is needed—but you’re not going that far until you go through an initial design cycle.
