As it starts to get that bit colder, the sun starts to set earlier and we transition from October to November, it’s the perfect time to swap those Summer sips for a more warming cocktail that embraces the festive spirit. We will focus on 3 gin cocktails that really capture the spirit of the season.

1. French 75 (Serves 1)

This is the perfect gin cocktail that is both strong and festive. Made with gin and champagne, it’s paired with the tart sweetness of lemon and the dash of some Champagne or Prosecco. Adding a twist of lemon makes this a light and delightful cocktail that really packs a punch.

To make this cocktail, you’ll need to fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add 50ml of gin, 25ml of lemon juice and 25ml of simple syrup. Shake the combined ingredients for 30 seconds and then strain into a Champagne flute. Next you’ll need to top up the cocktail with some Champagne or Prosecco before finally peeling and twisting a thin slice of lemon peel to garnish your glass.

If you’re looking for a strong gin to match this cocktail, then Old Tom Gin from The Cotswolds Distillery is the ideal choice.

2. Clover Club (Serves 1)

This cocktail is made using gin, rasberry, egg white and lemon juice and it’s a fantastic option for a fruity drink in the Winter as the egg white adds a slightly heavier layer to the cocktail.

To create this lovely drink, you’ll need to add 50ml of gin, 5 fresh raspberries or 15ml of rasberry syrup, 25ml of lemon juice, 15ml or 1 table spoon of egg white and 25ml of lemon juice to a cocktail shaker. Next you’ll need to shake the cocktail hard for 1-2 minutes, before adding ice and shaking again for 1 minute. Then strain the cocktail into a glass and add a raspberry to garnish.

Why not use Glaswegin’s Raspberry and Rhubarb gin for the perfect Clover Club!

3. Hot Gin Toddy (Serves 2)

This is a perfect warming Winter drink for any events that take place outside! It takes a bit of preparation, but oh is it worth it. Pour 100ml of water into a saucepan and add 50ml of orange juice, 50ml of lemon juice, half a sliced lemon, 1 cinnamon stick, 2 cloves, 2 juniper berrier (optional) and 2 teaspoons of honey. Bring this to a low heat before it starts to simmer and then strain the mixture into a jug. Add 100ml of gin and serve warm.

Adding the 1670, a limited edition gin by Edinburgh Gin will make this a cocktail to remember.
