MACALLAN TO RELEASE DISTIL YOUR WORLD HONG KONG

The Macallan’s “Distil Your World” series is an ongoing collaboration with the renowned Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca, one of the world’s most acclaimed restaurants based in Girona, Spain. Each release in this highly sought-after collection is inspired by a major city or region, capturing its essence through a unique single malt whisky.

Now in its fourth edition, the “Distil Your World” collection has previously explored London, New York, and Mexico. For each release, a Macallan whisky maker travels to the selected destination alongside one of the Roca brothers, drawing inspiration from the culture, flavours, and traditions of the region.

This time, the journey takes us to Hong Kong—a city renowned for its dynamic energy, world-class cuisine, and bustling nightlife. Representing The Macallan, whisky maker Euan Kennedy embarked on this immersive experience, working alongside the Roca brothers to craft a whisky that encapsulates the spirit of Hong Kong. As is tradition with The Macallan, he selected a combination of European and American oak casks to create this distinctive expression, bottled at 46.8% ABV.

“Inspired by the vibrant city of Hong Kong, this unique single malt was created by The Macallan’s Lead Whisky Maker, Euan Kennedy, in collaboration with the Roca brothers, owners of the legendary El Celler de Can Roca. It is a bold whisky made through the lens of a shared experience in Hong Kong.”

Official Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Rich, resinous, and sweet. Aromas of decadent ginger and spices, balanced by vibrant tropical notes such as pomelo and mango. Subtle hints of Hong Kong-style egg tart, fragrant honey, and exquisite antique oak.

• Taste: Luxuriously viscous and mouthcoating. Bright tropical sweetness leads into warming ginger and rounded spices, providing excellent structure. Layers of aged oak, grapefruit, and an umami-like depth emerge.

• Finish: The richness of antique oak continues to shine, leaving a lasting impression.
