TEREMANA TEQUILA TO EXPAND DISTILLERY

Teremana, the tequila company co-founded by Dwayne Johnson is expanding the distillery to meet increasing demand.
The tequila brand are pursuing international growth having recently expanded into 5 new markets (UK, Germany, UAW, Australia and Colombia) and the new distillery they are creating will be in addition to the original one.
Production at the two distilleries which will be side by side will be run by the Lopez family.
Richard Black, the CEO of Teremana stated that “This expansion will enable us to uphold our small batch process, while meeting the increasing demand from consumers in the US and on an international scale. At the new distillery – which will continue to be overseen by the Lopez family – the same meticulous, time-honoured, and handcrafted process will be replicated with the addition of more small brick ovens and locally handmade copper pot stills – to ensure complete consistency in quality and taste.”
It is a great time to expand, with the price of agave starting to decline. Prices in Mexico soared to a record MXP32/kg just 18 months ago, but by February of this year prices had cratered to MXP5/kg.
The market for tequila too is increasing, with CGA’s BeverageTrak reporting that US sales of tequila cocktails have increased by 1.8% and now hold a 34.1% market share, with the UK likely to also see an increase.
