Tobermory 27 Year Old 1995 Cask #1976
Distilled on the Isle of Mull in 1995 and matured for 27 years in a single bourbon hogshead, cask #1976, this Tobermory release stands among the island’s most scarce long-aged expressions. The cask yielded just 294 bottles, each one representing a piece of Tobermory’s older stock — something that is becoming increasingly hard to source as demand continues to rise.
Bottled at a powerful natural cask strength of 53.4% and left unfiltered and uncoloured, this whisky captures the distillery’s trademark fruitiness and coastal brightness, enriched by decades of slow maturation. The combination of age, single-cask status and restricted outturn makes this a highly desirable release for collectors of island malts. With fewer than 300 bottles ever produced and no possibility of recreating this exact cask profile, this is a whisky defined not only by its flavour but by its genuine scarcity and one-off nature.
Ben Nevis 22 Year Old 2000
This exceptionally limited release from Ben Nevis was distilled in 2000 and drawn from a single bourbon hogshead, cask #1002, which yielded just 311 bottles in total. With only one cask ever produced for this bottling, its scarcity is immediately apparent, making it a highly sought-after expression for collectors of Highland whisky.
After 22 years of slow maturation, the spirit developed a refined profile that balances fresh orchard fruits and honeyed sweetness with gentle oak spice, but the defining feature of this release is its purity and rarity: bottled at 46.2%, with no chill-filtration and no added colour, it presents the spirit exactly as the distillery intended.
Single-cask Ben Nevis bottlings of this age are now extremely uncommon, and with only a few hundred bottles ever made available worldwide, this is a whisky that highlights both the quality of the distillate and the exclusivity of the release. Once these few bottles are gone, there will never be another cask quite like it.

Laphroaig 18 Year Old with free tasting glass
Laphroaig 18 Year Old is an exceptional expression of one of Islay’s most famous distilleries, offering a masterful balance between the robust, medicinal peat smoke that defines Laphroaig and the nuanced sophistication that comes with nearly two decades of maturation. This whisky is a testament to the power of time in whisky-making, softening its signature smokiness while enhancing its complexity and depth. The extended aging process refines Laphroaig’s bold maritime and peaty character, introducing layers of sweetness, spice, and oak influence, making this an extraordinary single malt.
Originally introduced as a replacement for the beloved 15-year-old, the Laphroaig 18 became a fan favourite among Islay whisky lovers and collectors alike. Bottled at 48% ABV, this whisky is non-chill filtered, ensuring that every ounce of its deep and intricate character is preserved.
This well-aged Islay whisky retains the coastal influence and medicinal profile that Laphroaig is known for but delivers it with a far greater degree of elegance and restraint. The once-dominant smoky punch found in the younger expressions mellows into a refined, well-integrated experience, complemented by creamy vanilla, citrus zest, and an underlying warmth of oak spice. It is a whisky that appeals to both long-time Islay enthusiasts and those looking to explore a more sophisticated side of peated whisky.
For those who appreciate the full-bodied richness of Laphroaig but seek a more mature, balanced dram, the 18-year-old offers the best of both worlds. It is an experience that lingers on the palate and in memory, making it a must-have for serious whisky drinkers.
Tasting Notes by Whisky Brokers Associates
Colour: Deep amber gold, reflecting its well-matured character and time in oak casks.
Nose: A beautifully layered aroma, where signature Laphroaig smoke meets rich oak influence. Smouldering peat is softened by vanilla bean, honey, and dried fruit, with hints of leather, tobacco, and sea salt. Subtle notes of dark chocolate, toasted almonds, and citrus zest add depth and complexity.
Palate: Exceptionally smooth yet powerful, with a refined balance of peat smoke, oak spice, and sweet maltiness. The initial burst of rich, earthy smoke is quickly followed by waves of caramel, vanilla, and a touch of honeyed sweetness. Warming spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove develop, alongside hints of dried figs, roasted nuts, and dark cocoa. The maritime influence remains present, with a delicate briny note that enhances its depth.
Finish: Incredibly long and lingering, with gentle smoke, oaky tannins, and a hint of medicinal iodine. The interplay of spice and sweetness continues to evolve, leaving behind a warm, satisfying conclusion with lingering notes of sea spray and subtle sherried fruit.
Maturation: Aged for 18 years in a mix of ex-Bourbon and European oak casks, allowing for a gradual development of deep, rich flavours while maintaining the distillery’s signature peat profile. The longer maturation brings out a mellow sweetness and an elegant, refined complexity.
Conclusion
Laphroaig 18 Year Old is a whisky that commands attention, offering a strikingly balanced and mature interpretation of Islay’s most famous peated whisky. While the bold, smoky essence of Laphroaig is unmistakable, the extended aging process has transformed its character, softening its sharp edges and introducing a world of intricate flavours that unfold beautifully with each sip.
The combination of deep, medicinal peat smoke, maritime salinity, and oak-driven spice makes this whisky an absolute pleasure to explore. Its smooth yet powerful profile appeals to seasoned Laphroaig fans while providing a more approachable experience for those who prefer a more refined take on Islay’s smoky style. The complexity, depth, and craftsmanship evident in every drop make Laphroaig 18 a standout in the distillery’s lineup.
Whether enjoyed neat, with a splash of water, or paired with a fine cigar, this whisky is a true masterpiece that showcases the brilliance of long-matured Islay malts. It is a dram to be savoured and celebrated, and one that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on those lucky enough to experience it.

Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2015
Champagne Pol Roger created their Prestige Cuvée in homage to Sir Winston Churchill mindful of the qualities that he sought in his champagne : robustness, a full-bodied character and relative maturity. The exact blend is a closely guarded family secret but it is undeniable that the composition would meet with the approval of the man to whom it is dedicated : “My tastes are simple, I am easily satisfied with the best”. Pinot Noir predominates, providing structure, breadth and robustness whilst Chardonnay contributes elegance, finesse and subtlety. Composed exclusively of grapes sourced from Grands Crus Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards which were already under vine during Churchill’s lifetime. Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is only made in the very best vintages and is always released later than the other vintage dated Champagnes from Pol Roger, marking Churchill’s appreciation for older wines.

Chances are there wasn't collaboration, communication, and checkpoints, there wasn't a process agreed upon or specified with the granularity required. It's content strategy gone awry right from the start. Forswearing the use of Lorem Ipsum wouldn't have helped, won't help now. It's like saying you're a bad designer, use less bold text, don't use italics in every other paragraph. True enough, but that's not all that it takes to get things back on track.
The villagers are out there with a vengeance to get that Frankenstein
You made all the required mock ups for commissioned layout, got all the approvals, built a tested code base or had them built, you decided on a content management system, got a license for it or adapted:
- The toppings you may chose for that TV dinner pizza slice when you forgot to shop for foods, the paint you may slap on your face to impress the new boss is your business.
- But what about your daily bread? Design comps, layouts, wireframes—will your clients accept that you go about things the facile way?
- Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever.
- Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.
- Websites in professional use templating systems.
- Commercial publishing platforms and content management systems ensure that you can show different text, different data using the same template.
- When it's about controlling hundreds of articles, product pages for web shops, or user profiles in social networks, all of them potentially with different sizes, formats, rules for differing elements things can break, designs agreed upon can have unintended consequences and look much different than expected.
This is quite a problem to solve, but just doing without greeking text won't fix it. Using test items of real content and data in designs will help, but there's no guarantee that every oddity will be found and corrected. Do you want to be sure? Then a prototype or beta site with real content published from the real CMS is needed—but you’re not going that far until you go through an initial design cycle.
