The Lakes The One Colheita Cask Finish

Original price was: £40.00.Current price is: £35.75. inc. VAT

Colheita (Col-yate-a) means “harvest”, referring to the exclusive use of grapes from a single crop to create a vintage port.

The singular blend of The Lakes Single Malt and select grain and malt Scotch whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay is then finished in rare Colheita casks to create this rich and warming expression of The One.

Peach cobbler, fresh apricot, and a whiff of autumnal smoke on the nose lead to a palate of ripe plums, vanilla custard and warming cinnamon with a rich and comforting finish.

Non-chill filtered for a richer mouthfeel and fuller flavour, with only the natural colours derived from our oak casks in every bottle.

Enjoy as you please. Sip neat, or add a few drops of water to open up the flavour profile.

2017 Saint-Estèphe, Château Le Crock, Bordeaux, France

£36.80 inc. VAT

Château Le Crock’s 2017 vintage in Saint-Estèphe was miraculous for its avoidance of the frosts that affected the rest of Bordeaux. Following a very dry autumn and winter, mild temperatures in February sparked an early bud-burst that began towards the end of March. The vines were fortunately spared the effects of the late April frosts thanks to their proximity to the Gironde river. Rainfall in June and good weather throughout the summer meant that fruit set was good, and veraison occurred eight to ten days earlier than usual. The harvest was also one of the earliest on record, producing richly coloured, well-balanced wines of great flavour intensity and acidity.

Les Pèlerins de Lafon-Rochet 2016

Original price was: £45.00.Current price is: £36.95. inc. VAT

Les Pèlerins is the second wine of Château Lafon-Rochet, offering a more approachable take on the estate’s classic Saint-Estèphe style. The 2016 vintage is a fine example of balance and structure from a superb Bordeaux year.

On the nose, it presents dark berries, cassis, and plum, laced with notes of graphite, cedarwood, and a subtle earthy undertone. The palate is medium-bodied with firm but polished tannins, showing blackcurrant, cherry, and hints of liquorice and spice. A touch of mineral tension and well-integrated oak give it freshness and definition.

The finish is refined and persistent, marked by a savoury edge and restrained power. Drinking well now with a decant, but will continue to evolve nicely over the next few years.

2017 Saint-Julien, Château Moulin Riche, Bordeaux, France

Original price was: £39.50.Current price is: £36.99. inc. VAT

For Château Moulin Riche, 2017 is known as the year of the frost, luckily vineyards in Saint-Julien were largely unaffected. Winter was slightly warmer than average, and the conditions were balmy until a large drop in temperature in late April. May brought sunshine and warmth, and the summer months remained warm until August. The cooler weather allowed the grapes to maintain their acidity and bright aromatics. Early September saw some rains prior to harvest which gave the vines a boost to complete the final stages of ripening.

Chances are there wasn't collaboration, communication, and checkpoints, there wasn't a process agreed upon or specified with the granularity required. It's content strategy gone awry right from the start. Forswearing the use of Lorem Ipsum wouldn't have helped, won't help now. It's like saying you're a bad designer, use less bold text, don't use italics in every other paragraph. True enough, but that's not all that it takes to get things back on track.

The villagers are out there with a vengeance to get that Frankenstein

You made all the required mock ups for commissioned layout, got all the approvals, built a tested code base or had them built, you decided on a content management system, got a license for it or adapted:

  • The toppings you may chose for that TV dinner pizza slice when you forgot to shop for foods, the paint you may slap on your face to impress the new boss is your business.
  • But what about your daily bread? Design comps, layouts, wireframes—will your clients accept that you go about things the facile way?
  • Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever.
  • Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.
  • Websites in professional use templating systems.
  • Commercial publishing platforms and content management systems ensure that you can show different text, different data using the same template.
  • When it's about controlling hundreds of articles, product pages for web shops, or user profiles in social networks, all of them potentially with different sizes, formats, rules for differing elements things can break, designs agreed upon can have unintended consequences and look much different than expected.

This is quite a problem to solve, but just doing without greeking text won't fix it. Using test items of real content and data in designs will help, but there's no guarantee that every oddity will be found and corrected. Do you want to be sure? Then a prototype or beta site with real content published from the real CMS is needed—but you’re not going that far until you go through an initial design cycle.
