2022 Organic Côtes-du-Rhône, Famille Perrin ‘Signature’, Southern Rhône, France
The nose of this wine is captivating, with enticing aromas of both red and black fruits, interwoven with spicy and peppery notes that add an intriguing complexity. As you take your first sip, the tannins reveal themselves to be ripe and plush, providing a beautifully soft texture that enhances the wine’s overall structure. The full-bodied palate is balanced and well-rounded, with layers of fruit flavor and subtle spice. Flavors of ripe blackcurrant shine through, while the white pepper adds an additional dimension of spice that lingers on the finish. This lingering aftertaste is both fresh and refined, leaving a lasting impression of depth and elegance. A wine that is well-suited for pairing with a variety of dishes, or to be enjoyed on its own, it offers a harmonious blend of fruit, spice, and structure.
2021 `Zeta` Cebreros Garnacha, Pegaso, Sierra de Gredos , Spain
‘Zeta’ Pegaso 2021 is ruby in colour, this wine is floral and expressive on the nose. Primary aromas of red fruits blend with complex nuances of minerality and spice. The palate has a good weight sensation, mainly given by the intense and deep fruit flavours, whereas the finish is fresh, juicy and clear, yet persistent.
The 2021 vintage started with a mild autumn. Winter was marked by the strong Filomena storm that brought 40 cm of snow and 10 days with temperatures below 10ºC. The year continued with a late bud break, followed by a frost at the beginning of April that had an impact on the volumes. Summer was generally mild except for a heatwave that was accompanied by wildfires in the villages of Cebrero. Rain at the key harvest time was another challenge in 2021, but with thorough grape selection, the quality of the wines was excellent.
2020 Barolo, Massolino, Piemonte, Italy
This wine is bright ruby-garnet in colour. With the grapes sourced from different sub-areas of Serralunga, there is a spectrum of perfumes on the nose, ranging from spicy to sweet, floral and fruit. The palate is a classic example of the region; full-bodied, elegant and well structured, with great ageing ability.
Winter saw mild temperatures and little rain and snow resulting in an early start of vegetation growth. The first part of spring was dry and sunny. Between May and July frequent rainfalls slowed down the growth and provided soils with precious water which, together with average summer temperatures, prevented water stress. Although veraison started early, the cooler nights in September made up for the early start, slowing down the vegetation growth, granting perfect ripeness and excellent ph and acidity levels.
2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges, Jean-Claude Boisset, Burgundy, France
An outstanding example of a Nuits-Saint-Georges Villages. Aromas of black cherry, blueberry and blackcurrant are married with a subtle spiciness from the oak. Supple on the palate, with velvety tannins and a mouthwatering acidity which drives the complex flavours onto the long finish.
2021 was a challenging vintage for winegrowers and producers in Burgundy. There were historically low yields due to catastrophic spring frost and hail, compounded by a cold, wet growing season. It is a return to a more classic vintage marked by bright acidity and freshness thanks to the cooler temperatures and resulting slower ripening, which allowed for full flavour development.
2022 Marlborough Pinot Noir, Greywacke, New Zealand
Deliciously fragrant Marlborough pinot noir, packed with blackberries and kola nut, intermingled with scents of rose petal and woodsmoke. The palate is medium-bodied and bright, layered with black liquorice, plum pudding and allspice. Finely structured with intense varietal expression, the abundant dark fruit flavours are laced with silky tannins and earthy tones to give a lingering and beguiling finish.
The 2022 growing season was marked by significant rain. The wet weather began in winter, carrying through until late spring – a stark contrast to 2021. December and January continued warm and excellent vineyard growth was experienced across the region when ex-tropical cyclone Dovi dropped 160 mm of rain over the first three weekends of February. Fortunately this coincided with cooler temperatures and southerly breezes, minimising disease pressure. Despite plenty of challenges the grapes enjoyed a successful ripening season and the resulting harvest was of excellent quality.
2023 Barbera d’Alba, G.D. Vajra, Piemonte, Italy
The 2023 Barbera d’Alba is lively purple in colour. The wine is fresh on the nose with aromas of red berries, roses, and fresh plums. The palate is crisp and juicy with layers of sweet red and black cherries, warm spices, and dark berries.
The 2023 vintage was a lovely vintage in Barolo, despite some erratic weather which hit many regions across Italy. The season was long, with an early bud break in mid-March. This was followed by early flowering and a late harvest. Excellent diurnal shifts developed wonderful aromatics. The cluster size was reduced leading to lower yields of very healthy grapes.
2023 Saint-Véran, Domaine Perraud, Burgundy, France
Bright lemon gold in colour, this wine displays aromas of peach and apricot. The palate is smooth and rounded with flavours of stone fruit and honey-like texture. This Saint-Véran is a full-bodied, fruity and fresh wine with crisp acidity and a long finish.
The 2023 vintage is characterised by generosity and abundance. Winter was milder than usual which meant budburst was later than average. This delay meant spring frosts were avoided. Conditions for flowering were largely favourable. A lack of water was appeased by heavy rainfall in June. Although vigilance was necessary in the vineyards with high humidity and potential storms, the Mâconnais largely avoided hailstorms in July. August and September were warm and sunny, which provided optimal harvest conditions.
2021 Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay, Racines, California, USA
The 2021 Chardonnay Santa Rita Hills Cuvée shines with brightness and precision. Aromas of citrus, white flowers, slate, and a hint of white pepper are elegantly layered, offering remarkable clarity. Its crisp, saline-driven finish is exceptionally refined and captivating.

Les Sinards 2022 presents an intricate bouquet of ripe red fruits, sweet spices, and hints of garrigue. The palate is both rich and well-structured, featuring smooth tannins and an impressive length. It strikes a remarkable harmony between elegance and intensity.
2023 Mâcon-Villages, Domaine Perraud, Burgundy, France
Pale yellow in appearance, this wine offers fragrant aromas of white flowers and stone fruits on the nose. The palate is medium to full-bodied, showcasing vibrant citrus acidity alongside flavors of melon, peach, and a touch of pineapple. A mineral-driven, long finish is beautifully balanced by the wine’s fresh acidity and rich fruit profile.

On the palate, it offers a fruit-forward profile featuring pronounced red berry and dried fruit flavors, accented by a touch of spice from oak aging. 2022 Château Macquin, Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion, Château Macquin, Bordeaux, France
Deep ruby red in colour, this wine has intense aromas of ripe raspberry and blackcurrant on the nose, along with spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper. The palate is full-bodied with concentrated flavours of cassis, raspberry and tobacco and a lifted acidity. Silky tannins linger on the long, persistent finish.
The 2022 vintage in Bordeaux was characterised by hot and dry conditions throughout the growing season, with temperatures from February onwards consistently above average and levels of rainfall consistently below average. Budbreak came early, with some April frosts following this. Flowering, fruit set and veraison were even and normal. Despite the lack of water, the vines managed to retain good health right up until harvest, which began earlier than usual.

Chances are there wasn't collaboration, communication, and checkpoints, there wasn't a process agreed upon or specified with the granularity required. You made all the required mock ups for commissioned layout, got all the approvals, built a tested code base or had them built, you decided on a content management system, got a license for it or adapted:

- But what about your daily bread? Design comps, layouts, wireframes—will your clients accept that you go about things the facile way?
- Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever.
- Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.
- Websites in professional use templating systems.
- Commercial publishing platforms and content management systems ensure that you can show different text, different data using the same template.
- When it's about controlling hundreds of articles, product pages for web shops, or user profiles in social networks, all of them potentially with different sizes, formats, rules for differing elements things can break, designs agreed upon can have unintended consequences and look much different than expected.
This is quite a problem to solve, but just doing without greeking text won't fix it. Using test items of real content and data in designs will help, but there's no guarantee that every oddity will be found and corrected. Do you want to be sure? Then a prototype or beta site with real content published from the real CMS is needed—but you’re not going that far until you go through an initial design cycle.
