BENRIACH THE TWELVE – REVIEW
Exploring BenRiach The Twelve
Today we are reviewing for you BenRiach ‘The Twelve’. This whisky was relaunched in 2020 under its core range and having finished in three different casks (sherry, bourbon and port casks), we believe it to be up there as one of the best 12 year old whiskies you can buy in the market.
Tasting Notes
The Appearance
A light copper hue sets the stage, inviting you to indulge in the complexity that follows.
Aromas that Enchant
Malt and sherry sweetness intertwine with fruit tartness, while earthy undertones add depth. Dark and orchard fruits play a role, accompanied by notes of spice, honey, and hints of cocoa.
Palate Poetry
Dark fruits and caramel unite, accompanied by cocoa, spice, and honey. Vanilla adds some elegance, and a light earthy touch deepens the experience.
Elegant Finish
A medium finish lingers, echoing malt, fruit, and wax.
Overall
We found this to be a great drinking whisky, especially given its price and age. The sherry cask really shone through at the beginning and the port cask helped give the whisky a lovely finish of dark fruits. BenRiach are producing some lovely whiskies and for a core range whisky this 12 year old holds its own!
