THE DAILY WHISKY REVIEWS: TASTING THE BEST WITH MORRIS AUSTRALIAN SINGLE MALT, YAMAZAKURA PEATED, AND THE ENGLISH ORIGINAL
We recently sent The Daily Whisky some samples to try, including Morris Australian Single Malt, Yamazakura Peated, and The English Original. Here’s what they had to say about these exceptional whiskies.
We’re so excited to start with our favourite! The Morris Austrailian Single Malt Signature is absolutely amazing. It has a light golden colour and is very fruity on the nose with the scent of fresh apples and pears. There’s a slight hint of sweetness from caramel, too. It’s delightfully round on the palate, perfectly balanced with notes similar to the nose, and an extra depth of berries like strawberry, blackcurrant and blackberry. This whisky packs a punch! If we had it in a blind tasting, we wouldn’t have guessed it to be 40%.
The Yamazakura Peated is met with the scent of tequila and a smoky peated sensation. The melon and coconut flavours are so fresh! The sweetness of the bourbon barrel comes through with some caramel and vanilla. It lingers in the mouth with the flavour notes, and it’s incredible! Close your eyes and hold the whiskey in your mouth for a few extra seconds, and it will give you an extra flavour impression of candlewax as it sits on the sides of your mouth. It has a nice oily feeling!
The English Original is a real surprise! The delicious, fresh scent of freshly cut banana/banana cake is incredible! It’s smooth at 43% and offers a slight saltiness, caramel and depth from the grain. The very fruity flavours of orange, passionfruit, grapefruit and banana are amazing! The aftertaste gives depth from nuts and a light spice of ginger.
